Ace Hotel Placards

, (2014)

The Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles opened in the United Artists Building and historic theatre, built in 1927. Commune Design invited us to create a piece of art for each room. We designed a set of small placards with people, events, ideas, and facts from 1927. 75 moments in total contextualize the building in the larger culture in which it was made, and attempt to expose some of the undercurrents to that time that are less recorded.

Design and research assistance Thea Lorentzen.
